Does anyone else feel like 2016 was the fastest year in history? How is it already May 2017?
Last April-May we spent a few weeks honeymooning in southern Italy, so we thought it’s a good time to look back at those pictures now and dream back a little bit.
We started our tour in Martina Franca in Puglia at the most lovely old masseria (Masseria Iazzo Scagno, cannot recommend it enough!) and then continued with rental car visiting interesting places in Puglia, Basilicata and over to Campania, ending our tour on the Amafli coast and in Naples. The only hotel we booked beforehand was the masseria, all the other ones we booked on the way – a little stress moment at times, but leaving us a lot of flexibility and surprises along the way. : )
The pictures are almost in the order they’re shot, so you can follow our tour to some of the places we visited.
Poppies outside Locorotondo
Olive gardens somewhere on the way…
Alberobello and the famous trulli
Ostuni, the white city
Night time in Matera
Matera was absolutely stunning – and the guides and signs kept telling that this is the place they filmed Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ, easy to understand why.
Castelmezzano up in the mountains
Neighbouring village Pietrapertosa. A.m.a.z.i.n.g. views!
But how do they transport furniture up there? That was what was keeping our minds busy during our visit there…
Postcard view in Positano
Tourists like us on the Amalfi coast ; )
Beautiful Capri – a day visit was enough though to this touristic place.
Grotta Azzurra in Capri – everyone got to spend like two minutes in here. ; )
The last picture is from the roof top pool in our hotel in Sorrento. Naples, where we ended our tour, was so hectic and busy so we probably forgot to snap pictures there. ; )
