I know it’s been a while since I posted something about my project 26 +26, but it’s not because I haven’t been working on it – I have – I’ve just been lazy taking pictures of it and uploading the pictures on the computer… Gotta get better in that. But anyways, here’s the third project (weeks 5 & 6) – a kitchen towel with a stenciled feather print. This one was actually made to use as a model for another fabric printing workshop I teached a couple of weeks ago and I made it simple for myself since the towel was a ready made one that I didn’t even have to sew. : ) There’s a tip for you: buy white cotton or linen tea towels and print them with your own design to give away as Christmas presents, for example. (Or if you can’t find any in the shops, make them yourself.)
When it comes to stenciling I like to keep the design simple, especially if I use it as a model for people who haven’t made stencils before. So another tip: whatever motif of figure you cut out as a stencil, you can always make the design interesting by trying out different ways of repeating it on the surface you’re printing, creating a repeat pattern.
Enjoy your Sunday!
