I started a new project this week! I love to design, create and work with my hands… but I never feel I have enough time to actually do it. Well, I decided it was time to do something about it. Not that I will magically have more time, but I will try to prioritise more. You know, “Take time to do the things you love”, “You don’t have time, you make time” and all those other Pinterest quotes… ; )
So, I needed a project. “Project 26 + 26” in lack of a better name. My aim is to every two weeks come up with a new design – for a block print, a stencil, a screen print or whatever – and then the next week make something of the design. Most likely there will be a lot of fabric printing since I love working with fabric. So, in a year I will have 26 new designs and 26 finished projects. And now it’s out in the open here so can’t back out anymore. ; )
I was supposed to start this week but took a head start in the weekend so I’m actually ahead of schedule. : ) I jumped on the cactus trend and carved a few cactus stamps. I use Moo carving blocks (please could somebody start importing those to Europe…) which are thick rubber blocks that are soft and easy to carve.
Technically, also the project of week number 2 is already done, since I stamped these cactus cards – but since I also recently finally found a fabric ink that works pretty well with carved stamps I also decided to print these cactuses on fabric. For those interested: I used Javana opaque fabric paint, which I don’t think you can find in Belgium, at least not in Brussels. I think I will have to make more trips to Germany in the near future to stock up. If anybody has tips on a similar thick fabric ink that you can actually find in this country please let me know… Anyway, the project of week 2 will thus be to make something of the fabric I printed – will show you when they’re finished!
Have a good week!
